Dabob Broad Spit extends into Dabob Bay off Hood Canal near Quilcene in Jefferson County. The spit creates a natural barrier forming a tidal lagoon behind it, with the area renowned for producing some of Hood Canal's finest oysters.

Shellfish harvesting attracts boaters year-round, with access only by boat since no public upland access exists. Large oyster beds flank both sides of the spit, where Pacific oysters grow in the clean, cold waters producing the distinctive Quilcene oysters prized for their briny, light flavor and sweet finish. Manila clam digging proves excellent in the mid-tidal area near the spit's base and in the tidal lagoon behind it, with the mixed gravel and mud substrate perfect for these popular clams. Native littleneck clams also thrive here for those with proper shellfish licenses—always check Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife seasons and Department of Health closures before harvesting. The spit's location creates calm water on the lagoon side ideal for anchoring boats while digging clams during low tides. Kayaking around the spit offers protected paddling with opportunities to observe harbor seals, great blue herons, bald eagles, and diverse shorebirds feeding in the productive waters. The area participates in the Quilcene-Dabob Pollution Identification and Correction project aimed at maintaining water quality for both shellfish and marine life. Beachcombing yields shells, interesting rocks, and driftwood along the spit's shoreline. Fishing in surrounding waters produces salmon during runs and bottomfish year-round. The boat-only access keeps the spit relatively quiet compared to road-accessible Hood Canal beaches.

Quilcene dining celebrates Hood Canal's shellfish heritage. Hama Hama Oyster Saloon offers outdoor farm-to-table dining on Hood Canal shores, serving fresh oysters harvested by Hama Hama, seasonal shellfish, waterfront views, and casual atmosphere. Logger's Landing features fish and chips with tartar sauce, coconut prawns, fresh crab, chicken nuggets, and old-fashioned recipes in rustic setting. Gearhead Deli serves made-from-scratch burgers, sandwiches, fish tacos, pulled pork, soups, and salads with locally sourced ingredients. Quilbilly's Restaurant and Taproom provides BBQ ribs, fried chicken, comfort food, and rustic country atmosphere. 101 Brewery at Twana Roadhouse offers house-made microbrews and pub fare in family-owned establishment operating since 1996.
