Eatons Beach derives its name from Jay Eaton, a New Jersey resident who purchased the white sand beachfront property on Lake Weir in 1924 with dreams of creating Florida's version of Coney Island. Jay Eaton transformed the scenic Lake Weir shoreline into a lively retreat, constructing a 30-foot boardwalk over the water, a dive tower, a boathouse, and even a three-lane bowling alley to attract tourists and locals seeking escape from the summer heat. Through the decades, three families—Houser, Enos, and now the Keuntjes—have each left their mark on this lakeside haven in Weirsdale, Marion County, maintaining its reputation as a beloved waterfront destination. Lake Weir itself, one of Central Florida's clearest spring-fed lakes, has drawn visitors since the steamboat era of the late 1800s.

Today's visitors enjoy swimming from the sandy shoreline and exploring Lake Weir's crystal-clear waters through various watercraft rentals. Eaton's Beach Aquatic Sports rents jet skis, pontoon boats, paddleboards, pedal boats, and kayaks, allowing guests to experience the lake's 5,700 acres of pristine waters. Beach volleyball courts provide entertainment on land, while umbrellas and cabanas offer shaded relaxation. One-hour lake tours and sunset cruises depart from the pier, offering adults (1.95) and children (5.95) guided explorations of Lake Weir's scenic coves and historic shorelines. Anglers cast for largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie from the beach and docks throughout the year.

Eaton's Beach Sandbar & Grill specializes in Florisiana Cuisine, blending traditional southern cooking with Cajun and Creole influences in dishes like shrimp and grits, gumbo, and shrimp creole. The Ybor Chowder has become a customer favorite, complemented by fried green tomatoes, Cajun fried pickles, and po' boys. Glazed salmon, catfish baskets, and oysters showcase the seafood offerings, while the pulled pork sandwich and pastrami sandwich satisfy barbecue cravings. Bread pudding and Key Lime pie provide sweet endings, with dining available on the enclosed back patio overlooking Lake Weir's tranquil waters.
