Mustin Beach, located within Naval Air Station Pensacola, takes its name from the historic Mustin Beach Club that has served the installation for decades. NAS Pensacola itself holds the distinguished title of the "Cradle of Naval Aviation," having been designated as the Navy's first Naval Air Station in 1911. The site was originally constructed in 1826 as a U.S. Navy Yard five miles south of Pensacola. In 1913, a board of officers led by Captain Washington Irving Chambers recognized Pensacola Bay's strategic importance as a natural runway for airplanes, naval warfare's newest innovation at the time. The station was redesignated as a naval air station in December 1917 following significant expansion after the United States entered World War I. During World War II, NAS Pensacola and its auxiliary fields trained over 28,000 Naval Aviators, expanding to train 1,100 cadets monthly—eleven times the number trained annually in the 1920s.

Mustin Beach offers serene white-sand beach access along Bayou Grande with nearby coastal vegetation creating a naturally beautiful setting. The beach features picnic sites, a fishing pier, and beach volleyball courts, with paddleboard, kayak, and canoe rentals available Thursday through Monday from 0900 to 1700. The recreational facilities support the family-friendly atmosphere that makes this a popular destination for military personnel and their families stationed at or visiting NAS Pensacola. The installation serves as the initial primary training base for all U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard officers pursuing designation as naval aviators and naval flight officers, with close to 60,000 students beginning their flight training careers at the Pensacola-area base each year. The beach also serves as home to the renowned Blue Angels flight demonstration team, whose practice sessions can occasionally be viewed from various locations around the installation.

Dining at Mustin Beach centers around the historic Mustin Beach Club located at 190 Radford Blvd, Building 253, which offers waterfront dining with stunning views and hosts events, meetings, and weddings for military personnel and civilians. The Officers Club provides a slice of Pensacola's rich history in extraordinary surroundings. Additional dining options throughout NAS Pensacola include various on-base restaurants and fast-food establishments serving military families and visitors with base access. The Pensacola MWR operates a family-friendly pool on the waterfront behind the Mustin Beach Club, complementing the beach experience with additional recreational amenities and refreshment options.
