Rosemont Beach sits on Lake Sammamish's western shore in Bellevue's northeast area within the West Lake Sammamish neighborhood grouping. While specific documentation of the Rosemont name's etymology remains limited in readily available historical records, the beach and neighborhood sit in Bellevue, a city name derived from French meaning "beautiful view," chosen by first postmaster Matthew S. Sharpe who moved from Bellevue, Indiana, finding the name applicable to his new home with sweeping vistas of Lake Washington to the west and Cascade Mountains to the east. Lake Sammamish's name comes from the Snoqualmie people, with "Sammamish" being a corruption of two Snoqualmie words: "Sqawx," their name for Lake Sammamish, and "abs." Bellevue incorporated as a third-class city on March 31, 1953, developing from early homesteaders William Meydenbauer and Aaron Mercer who arrived in 1869. The beach provides access to Lake Sammamish, the second-largest lake in King County after Lake Washington.

Swimming attracts families and individuals to Lake Sammamish's freshwater waters during summer months from the beach, with the lake's calm protected environment creating safe conditions. Kayaking and paddleboarding launch from the beach for exploration of Lake Sammamish's western shoreline with routes toward Lake Sammamish State Park at the southern end and views of the Cascade foothills. Fishing yields bass, trout, and other Lake Sammamish species from the beach and nearby waters. Beachcombing along the shoreline reveals smooth lake stones, driftwood, and seasonal finds deposited by water level fluctuations. Wildlife watching includes waterfowl including ducks, geese, and occasional loons, great blue herons stalking shallows, ospreys diving for fish, and bald eagles occasionally visiting. Views capture Lake Sammamish's expanse with the Sammamish Plateau rising to the east and Cascade foothills forming the eastern horizon. The neighborhood's location in the West Lake Sammamish area places it among Bellevue's lakefront communities.

Bellevue waterfront dining offers diverse Lake Washington and city options. The Lakehouse in Lincoln Square creates Northwest farmhouse cuisine spotlighting produce from grower and farmer relationships. COMO serves cuisine of Lombardy with stunning Lake Washington and Olympic Mountain views from the waterfront location. El Encanto at Carillon Point features expansive outdoor dining and lounges overlooking Lake Washington with luxe couches and plexiglass walls maximizing views. Water Grill prepares sustainable seafood with market-fresh fish selections. Anthony's HomePort in nearby Kirkland sits on Lake Washington's eastern shores with views of Hunts Point, Sand Point, and Seattle skyline. Daniel's Broiler in Leschi offers Mount Rainier and Lake Washington views from every table with outdoor waterfront dining.
