Allison Hagerup Beach takes its name from Alison Hagerup, a dedicated administrator for the Captiva Erosion Prevention District for 20 years who championed coastal restoration and lobbied tirelessly for beach renourishment projects. Hagerup was known for her ability to bring people together for the benefit of Captiva Island's beaches, working to preserve the island's shoreline through environmental advocacy and public service. She passed away in 2008 and is buried in the nearby historic Captiva Cemetery, where friends and family honor her memory by placing shells on her grave in recognition of her love of the beach and her work as a public servant. The beach was named in her honor to commemorate her contributions to Captiva's coastal preservation efforts. Located at the northern tip of Captiva Island at the end of Captiva Drive, adjacent to the private South Seas Island Resort, the beach serves as the northernmost public beach access on the island. The beach park is also known simply as Captiva Beach and has been called "one of the most romantic beaches" in Florida. Parking is available with fees for non-Florida residents, while Florida residents enjoy free access, with the lot open from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.

The beach features wide stretches of soft white sand and turquoise Gulf of Mexico waters ideal for swimming and relaxation. Dolphin sightings are frequent, with bottlenose dolphins often visible playing in the surf just offshore. The expansive beach provides plenty of space to spread out, offering a more secluded and peaceful experience compared to busier island beaches. Shelling is a popular activity, as Captiva Island is renowned for its unique shell varieties washed ashore by Gulf currents. The west-facing beach offers spectacular sunset viewing, with unobstructed views of the sun setting into the Gulf. Beachcombing reveals sand dollars, fighting conchs, and other prized shells along the shoreline. The beach's location at the northern tip of the island provides a sense of remoteness while remaining easily accessible from Captiva's main road. The adjacent South Seas Island Resort area adds to the beach's appeal, though the public beach park maintains its own distinct character and accessibility.

Dining near Allison Hagerup Beach features Captiva Island's acclaimed restaurant scene accessible via a short drive along Captiva Drive and Andy Rosse Lane. The Bubble Room offers generous portions and famous desserts in a restaurant filled with vintage memorabilia and eccentric decor. Keylime Bistro serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with open-air seating and live music featuring saxophone, jazz, and guitar performances daily. RC Otter's provides over 100 menu items including steaks, pasta, and fresh seafood in a relaxed island setting. The Green Flash features waterfront dining with fresh Gulf seafood and outdoor seating overlooking the water. The Shipyard combines creative cocktails with coastal cuisine in a tropical atmosphere. South Seas Island Resort offers multiple dining options including fresh seafood and island-inspired dishes at various on-site restaurants, providing convenient options for beachgoers.
