Foulweather Bluff Beach sits at the northern tip of the Kitsap Peninsula in Hansville in Kitsap County where Hood Canal meets Admiralty Inlet and Puget Sound proper. The bluff and beach take their name from Captain George Vancouver's May 1792 expedition when his ships encountered foul weather conditions while exploring the area, with Vancouver recording the challenging meteorological conditions that characterized the exposed headland. The Nature Conservancy protects a 104-acre Foulweather Bluff Nature Preserve providing daytime public access to a beautiful stretch of sandy beach via a quiet woodland trail, though additional beach areas are accessible only by boat without public upland access. The beach sits at a geologically and ecologically significant location where different Puget Sound water bodies converge, creating unique habitat conditions supporting diverse marine and terrestrial ecosystems valued for conservation and research.

Beachcombing along the sandy shoreline reveals smooth stones, driftwood deposits, shells from diverse marine life, and beach glass accumulated over decades, with The Nature Conservancy allowing beach walking for nature appreciation while prohibiting clamming, fires, and removal of natural materials as souvenirs. Wildlife watching provides exceptional opportunities with the convergence of water bodies attracting remarkable biodiversity including bald eagles fishing and perching in preserve forests, harbor seals hauling out on beaches and rocks, diverse shorebirds including sandpipers and plovers utilizing sandy areas during migrations, great blue herons stalking tideline areas, and seabirds including cormorants, gulls, scoters, and loons feeding in productive waters. Birdwatching draws enthusiasts year-round to observe resident and migratory species utilizing the preserve's varied habitats encompassing beach, bluff, wetland, and forest environments. Photography captures stunning views across Admiralty Inlet toward Whidbey Island to the north and the Olympic Mountains rising to the west, with sunsets over the Olympics particularly spectacular from the exposed beach location. The woodland trail through the preserve provides quiet walking under forest canopy before emerging at the beach, with the trailhead located on Twin Spits Road's widened shoulder though not well marked requiring visitors to look for a gap in trees just north of the wetland. Swimming in the exposed waters occurs during calm summer days though currents and tidal flows require caution, with pets prohibited throughout the preserve to protect sensitive habitats and wildlife.

Hansville and Kitsap Peninsula dining offers restaurants and seafood options in nearby communities. The Doe Bay Cafe and Mercantile serves breakfast, lunch, and casual dining in relaxed island atmosphere with local ingredients. Sea J's Cafe prepares seafood and American fare with waterfront views in Seabeck. Point No Point Cafe offers casual dining near the historic Point No Point Lighthouse north of Hansville. Hale's Ales Brewery and Pub features craft beers and pub food in Silverdale. Anthony's HomePort in Silverdale serves fresh Northwest seafood with local produce in waterfront setting overlooking Dyes Inlet.
