Hideaway Beach takes its name from the Hideaway Beach Club, a prestigious gated community on the northwest coast of Marco Island developed during the island's rapid growth period. During the 1960s, the Mackle Brothers of the Deltona Corporation purchased most of Marco Island's land from the Barron Collier estate, beginning the island's transformation from a quiet fishing village into a resort destination. The opening of the S.S. Jolley Bridge in 1969 cemented Marco Island's position as a tourist destination, enabling the development of communities like Hideaway Beach. Historical photographs show the area prior to development and during construction phases, with the Royal Marco Point condominiums built in the 1990s as a signature component. The community encompasses over 300 acres of lush landscapes including a two-mile stretch of private beach, lagoons, and nature preserves with upscale homes, condominiums, and villas. Hurricane Ian in 2022 brought 6 to 8 feet of floodwater across the property, followed by an electrical fire that resulted in a total loss of the original clubhouse. Construction completed in 2024 created a rebuilt 34,000-square-foot sports center designed to withstand future hurricanes, representing the community's commitment to long-term sustainability.

The beach features two miles of private white sand restricted to Hideaway Beach Club members and residents, offering an exclusive Gulf of Mexico experience. The beach is equipped with traditional tiki umbrellas for shade, beach chairs, and lounging areas maintained by club staff. A heated swimming pool and spa provide additional water recreation options beyond the Gulf. Miles of scenic paths and boardwalks wind through the property, ideal for fishing, walking, or leisurely golf cart rides while observing native wildlife and landscaping. The beach's private nature ensures uncrowded conditions year-round, with members enjoying swimming, shelling, and beachcombing in peaceful surroundings. The club facilities include tennis courts and other recreational amenities. Fishing from the beach and boardwalks attracts anglers seeking snook, redfish, and other Gulf species. The west-facing beach orientation provides spectacular sunset viewing over the Gulf horizon. The natural preserves within the community support diverse bird species and native Florida vegetation, creating opportunities for nature observation while maintaining the exclusive character that defines Hideaway Beach.

Dining at Hideaway Beach Club features four distinct on-site venues serving members and guests. The Gulfview Room offers panoramic Gulf views hosting member events with traditional dishes and specialty wines in a formal setting. The Sand Bar serves a creative coastal menu with specialty tacos, salads, sandwiches, and smoothies for beachside lunch or dinner. Coconut Grille Room provides a formal atmosphere where members enjoy fresh traditional dishes and an extensive wine selection. Sunset Lounge offers personal service in a casual yet lively ambiance with Happy Hour specials and weekly dinner menus. Nearby Marco Island restaurants accessible to club members include Snook Inn for waterfront seafood dining, Fin Bistro featuring creative coastal cuisine, and Sale e Pepe serving authentic Italian dishes with fresh ingredients and inviting atmospheres that complement the island's culinary scene.
