Hideaway Beach takes its name from the Hideaway Beach Club, a prestigious gated community on the northwest coast of Marco Island developed during the island's rapid growth period. During the 1960s, the Mackle Brothers of the Deltona Corporation purchased most of Marco Island's land from the Barron Collier estate, beginning the island's transformation from a quiet fishing village into a resort destination. The opening of the S.S. Jolley Bridge in 1969 cemented Marco Island's position as a tourist destination, enabling the development of communities like Hideaway Beach. Historical photographs show the area prior to development and during construction phases, with the Royal Marco Point condominiums built in the 1990s as a signature component. The community encompasses over 300 acres of lush landscapes including a two-mile stretch of private beach, lagoons, and nature preserves with upscale homes, condominiums, and villas.
